Friends.

What is the meaning of a true friend?
Do friends hang around you just because
you have something that they want or do
they hang around you because they actually
enjoy your company…..?

A friend asked me this today.
A question asked frequently by many, answered by many more, yet ever so persistent.
In the social networking world we live in, a spark of thought is easy to read.

From shout outs, pictures to written philosophies and blogs.

It’s funny to read how, friends are numbered, chosen, doors are shut before opening.
We treat everyone like “Guilty before pleading innocent”
as compared to “Innocent before pleading Guilty”
How common are the words “No backstabbers, betrayers etc etc” as if they knew.
And even if they did, are they so different?
Never lied to your first friend, parents? Sure, “i believe”

Then there are the bunch, who have gone to their knees in life, emotionally battered, yet
to take the wrong move, of being selfish, living only for themselves.
Failing to ask themselves one question.
Why should i continue the cycle?

Ever prayed to God or someone you hold up high?
Asked questions? Why does this have to happen?

“Imagine God is your friend,
i believe you tell your problems to him/her, it makes you feel good.
Yet, you cant see, or enjoy their presence.
There comes a point, where you even doubt their existence,
yet, their still your “best friend”.
Ever wondered why?”

Cause you believed.

My Answer.

A true friend is one who gives your freedom and yet opens his doors
when you need something without expecting anything.
A true friend is one who gives you honest opinions and sets you right,
instead of supporting one for every wrongs he/she does.
A true friend is one who doesn’t number his friends or sets them to priorities,
but rather is equal/unbiased.
A true friend is one who is there, waiting patiently,
even if he/she is being hated at some point, or is unwanted.

I could go on, but it leads to somewhat the same thing, give everything right, expect nothing
and continue believing.

It’s ok to get hurt, but it’s wrong to hurt others.
